In our human world, fear is accepted as a natural way of life. The energy of fear leads to physical, mental and emotional bondage and spiritual poverty. In so doing, fear veils the light of our True Self.  It constricts us.

Born into the world as True Self – the Divine Spark — we are the radiant light of pure consciousness … the love that accepts all and is tarnished by nothing.  As Divine Sparks we are without fear, being one with all experience. Then we were conditioned into separation as “me” and “you.”  The hallmarks of separation are distrust and fear.

We learned fear through traumatic experiences.  Unresolved fearful memories veiled the Divine Spark, the True Self and gave birth to a false sense of self. We began to live life through the veil of fear. We were not born with fear. We learned fear.

Fear points us to the spiritual lessons we have yet to master.  Our internal struggle and unhappiness shows where darkness has blocked the Divine Spark, our essential nature. Fear reveals itself in habitual striving to find happiness through substances, wealth, objects and relationships of all kinds.

Dissolving fear into love

Turbulent interpersonal relationships along with continuous planetary chaos can keep us stirred up in separation and fear.  As Divine Sparks we have the capacity to exist in unity and cooperation when we dissolve fear by saying “Yes” to love. Turning fear into a spiritual practice is the start of creating peace on earth. First, we begin with ourselves.

To live without fear, we must learn to live with it.  It takes openness, courage and practice. We have been dancing around fear all our lives.  Suppressing it, managing it and fulfilling it. In the following practice, we are not trying to get rid of fear. To go to war with fear only strengthens fear. Rather than saying “No” to fear, instead, we say “Yes” to love.

Spiritual Practice

Say “Yes” to Love

As time goes on, you will be able to bring fear closer and closer, transmuting it into love.  Start with this practice.

Go to a quiet, comfortable place.  Relax and breathe slowly. Now, to yourself say, “Yes to love” several times. This begins the movement from the mind to the sacred heart.

Invite fear in. Remember, we are not trying to get rid of it. As you bring fear closer and closer to your heart, allow the feeling of fear to fully arise.  Be courageous. Continue to allow fear to come closer to your heart.  Stay with just the emotion, and not the story around the emotion.  Keep the welcome mat out for fear as long as you can. When you feel complete, slowly disengage from the practice. End by allowing yourself to be bathed in love with a bubble of light around you.

To befriend fear is to allow it to melt into the heart of love. We are Divine Sparks. Love is our true nature.  We can never be destroyed.
